Dortmund is the Ruhr’s biggest city – with just over 612,000 residents on the city’s 2025 count – and it does not hide its sex industry so much as fence it. Since May 2011 the only legal outdoor / window strip in the whole municipal area has been one 200-metre street north of the Hauptbahnhof. Everything else is licensed indoor work – but there’s plenty of it to go around!

Sex and Prostitution In Dortmund
Prostitution in Germany is a fully legalized and regulated business, and that carries through to Dortmund.
The sex scene in Dortmund is like any other major German city and there are plenty of adult entertainment venues to choose from including FKK sauna clubs, brothels, sex kinos (cinemas), erotic massage parlours, gentlemen’s/strip clubs, and swingers’ clubs.
Sex workers pay tax and must attend annual health checks to ensure they are clear of any STDs. Brothels and other venues which service customers in a similar way must hold licenses and promote safe-sex practices on site. In reality, the control of this is down to the individual sex-worker but in the main, you aren’t able to pay for sex without protection.
As a result of a change in the legal status of prostitution in 2002 (in which the state revoked its use of the term ‘immoral’ when applied to sex work), there is less stigmatization than in other countries – but many women do lead double lives when it comes to their professional adult career.
Recent surveys from Destatis place North Rhine-Westphalia as the biggest registered market for sex workers in the country – with 8,339 workers on the books at the end of 2025, with the caveat that only 18% of registered workers hold a German passport.
Around one in four sex workers in Dortmund are thought to be German nationals whilst the remaining 75% come from a migrant background, typically from regions like Eastern Europe including Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Poland and Russia.
Dortmund’s local sex trade has suffered several upheavals in recent years.
Around 2000 the city built a supervised street strip on Ravensberger Straße – “hinter Hornbach” – which was the so-called Dortmunder Modell. It was sold as safer, lit, and out of the housing blocks.
After 2007 the street filled with women from new EU states and the city declared the experiment failed.
From May 2011, street prostitution was banned across Dortmund except on Linienstraße. That is still the case today, with PDF maps of the Sperrbezirk for all prostitution types and the supplementary street ban.

Practical takeaways:
- Incalls are legal if the venue is licensed and the worker is registered.
- Condoms are required by law.
- Street and window work is legal in Dortmund only on Linienstraße (the ordinance also mentions the corner house at Steinstraße 17). Mallinckrodtstraße, the old Hornbachschleife and every other pavement in the city are Sperrbezirk.
- The city’s Bußgeldstelle lists both working in the zone and contacting a sex worker there to arrange paid sex as “Ordnungswidrigkeiten“. It can attract a fine of up to €500; persistent street work can be charged as a criminal offence.
So, the city’s legal sex trade is effectively contained. It is a Ruhr compromise: one fenced window street, a few bar-and-room houses with active sex workers and some FKK clubs next to the motorway (more on those below).
Escort Industry
Independents and small agencies cover Dortmund-based incalls in private apartments and outcalls to hotels from the Hauptbahnhof to Phoenix-See to the airport belt.
Dortmund isn’t the biggest region for this kind of work but many will travel and there are at least a few hundred call girls operating in the city.
A standard GFE hour in 2026 sits around €150-€250 from the rates we saw publicly advertised. Quick 30-minute incalls are available from about €80-€120.
At the higher-end, elite agencies still want a two-hour minimum and talk in the €400-€900 range once travel is added. Many Dortmund profiles on the big boards are women who will travel from Bochum, Essen, Hagen or Cologne if the booking is long enough.

The high-end names we’ve covered before – Ivana Models, Sens High Class, Target Escorts – are national or Rhine-area agencies that will send someone to Dortmund, but they are not actually based in Dortmund (to our knowledge).
Still worth checking out if you’re looking for more of a luxury/VIP experience:

Dortmund Brothels
Linienstraße houses make up the local brothel system in Dortmund.
There is said to be about 16 houses on the 200-metre strip. Mitternachtsmission, quoted by BILD in January 2025, said up to 300 women work the street. There’s no way of confirming an exact number, but there’s clearly enough sex workers to keep the trade ticking over.

The rest of the street is numbered houses without brands – or rather, venues that sell sex but don’t have public websites or rosters to browse. Most punters just walk it. That is the whole point of a window mile.
There are also some bar brothels and laufhaus just off the strip…
Luder Lounge

A kind of bordello meets sauna club, we’ve added the Luder Lounge here simply because it doesn’t have the same facilities as an FKK. Yes, it does have a steam room, large communal lounge and bar but no pool or fancy extras. However, guests must still pay an admission fee to enjoy these facilities and then they can mingle with the assortment of female companions. Each of the girls operates independently from the Luder Lounge and fees for private services must be negotiated separately with each one.
It’s a modern and cozy kind of club that has a welcoming ambience and comfortable surroundings that aren’t tacky or overtly ‘sexual’. In fact, as far as sauna clubs go, this one is pretty toned down and will suit more shy gents over the extravagance of some of the larger FKK venues.
With a good reputation and a nice selection of ladies working here, it’s a club that will introduce newcomers to the FKK world of communal sex shopping.

Hafenlust

Located around 30 minutes east of the centre of Dortmund, this brothel might be a stretch to drive out to but there are some unique offerings here which meant we couldn’t ignore its proximity to the city.
It’s a laufhaus with a difference and as well as providing rooms for rent to independent sex workers you can also hire personal time with one of several love dolls on site. The trend for paying for sex with these high-end sex toys has become popular over the last few years and this brothel is one of only a few dozen around Europe where you can try this.
Not only that but this experimental sex parlour has also ventured further with offering a full-blown VR experience.

FKK Clubs
The FKK sauna scene in Germany is an embedded part of the culture of sex in the country.
Sauna clubs are a hybrid of brothels and spas where guests can pay a single admission fee to enjoy the facilities on site.
Often, visitors will roam around naked, or semi-naked with robes and slippers. These clubs are populated with independent prostitutes who are available to hire for a private and intimate session.
The set-up of each club varies with some offering a single fee which covers the cost of sex with the ladies on site – whilst others will merely charge an admission fee and sex must be paid for directly to your companion.

This is where you go if you wanna upsize your FKK experience.
It’s a proper FKK day out, just east of the airport rather than in the city. You’ve got a sauna, jacuzzi, sports bar, lounge, outdoor pool, buffet, and about 20 active women on a busy day – many of them said to be of a particularly high quality.
Official entry is €45 including food, soft drinks, robe and unlimited stay. Direkt-Ticket €35 if you skip the facilities and go straight to a room.
Happy hour daily runs from 11:00-13:00 and after 21:00, but not on Friday or Saturday evening. Hours: daily 11:00-24:00, Fri/Sat until 01:00. All prices for sex are negotiated directly with the girls on site.
Red Light Districts
Dortmund has a small, one-block red-light district where street prostitution is legal and you can find this close to the main railway station.
The stretch of road is called Linienstraße. Its only around 200m in length but it is legal for women to solicit business from this area. It’s very small and the women here are seated behind windows in much the same way as you might find in Amsterdam. There are about 15-20 windows with 2-3 women in each.
Prices range from around €40-50 for a quick 20 minutes (which can include oral), although haggling is common.
There are privacy screens at the ends. A sign at the north entrance still cites a 1957 adult-only rule that is no longer the live statute… the live statute is the Sperrbezirk.
It’s strictly a window prostitution zone, which does not extend to pavement loitering: punters talk at the glass, and then go in if they strike a price. Brothels have been on this famous street since 1904. It is the only place in the city where street-style work is allowed, and we can’t see that changing anytime soon.
The Price of Sex in Dortmund
So how does Dortmund compare to other major German cities for damage to your wallet?
Overall, we’d say Dortmund sits on the cheaper side of the big-German-city band: below Munich and Düsseldorf on escorts, in line with other Ruhr walk-in rooms, and cheaper at the FKK door than Frankfurt or mega clubs like Berlin’s Artemis.
Independent-profile marketplaces that average advertised hours put a German hour around €150 (Orhidi’s national indicator). Erobella’s last published city cut had Dortmund near €148 – cheaper than nearby Cologne (€155) and well below Munich (€193) on that sample.
Obviously, walk-in rooms do not follow the same ranking. A Linienstraße short-time is a very different market from a Kaufmich hour!
Standard Pricing
There is no “official” pricing we can go by here.
So we’re just curating the latest punter reports to give you a rough idea.
- Linienstraße window: reported €30-€50 for 15-20 minutes. €30 was the rate when we first published this guide, but it’s edged up towards €40-€50 post-covid.
- Bar brothel / small house 30 min: reported €50-€100.
- FKK entry (official): Luder Lounge €20 / €30 / €20 by time of day. Verena €30 (happy hour €19.99). Freudenhaus €45, Direkt-Ticket €35. Sessions extra and negotiated; older 20/30/60 bands of €30 / €50 / €80 are often reported.
- Private flat / Modellwohnung: often €80-€150 for 30–60 minutes off a private board or classifieds site.
- Independent escort hour: €150-€250. Thirty-minute incalls from about €80-€120 (rarer to find).
- Agency / VIP: two-hour minimums from about €500-€1300 plus travel. There’s no real “upper” band here; some of the top companions will have your vital organs with your wallet.
- Erotic massage: we first put it at around €55 / 30, €80 / 45, €105 / 60 plus extras. The current price has likely ticked up in the last couple of years.

Whilst erotic massage parlours in many countries are the underground source of sexual services in a city, here in Germany prostitution is legal so you can often, legitimately, get full service with your body rub. It all depends on whether the salon is licensed or not.
Massage Kompliment

Situated west of the city in the industrial area of Westheck (close to the swingers’ club Schickeria), Massage Kompliment (or, ‘MK’) is a small bordello which specialises in massage.

Treff 83

Another club outside the city limits, you can find Treff 83 to the east of Witten and about 15km south west of Dortmund.
Sized at around 600 sq m and open since 1983, the club is another haven for locals in the area as well as welcoming international guests, particularly from Dortmund.
Facilities at the club include a lounge, dance floor, sauna, darkroom, BDSM and various themed rooms.
The average age of the guests here at Treff 83 is 35-40 years old and the club accommodates around 150 people at peak times. This includes a balance of singles and couples and depends on the popularity of the evening’s events. Speaking of which, the club run a range of specially themed nights including naturist and bi parties and FKK evenings.
Doors last listed around €45-€80 for couples depending on the night, men higher midweek. JoyClub has discounts for certain events.
Dortmund Strip Clubs
Despite plenty of adult venues in and around Dortmund where sex is for sale, there is only one strip club of note in the city.
Kir Royale Lounge

The Kir Royale is not the largest strip club in the world and may be far less upmarket than some of the gentleman’s lounges you might find in the bigger cities. Sex Cinemas
Sex cinemas are not as popular as they once were around Europe and many cities no longer have quite as many venues to offer this kind of adult entertainment.
However, many sex shops offer this kind of facility on site as a way of enticing customers in to their premises. Ostensibly a small room with a large TV or projector screen on which porno films are looped, they are great areas for cruising for both men, women and couples.

Dortmund city does not currently have a landmark XXX cinema. The useful rooms are one town over:

The Bergkamen store is a bit larger but is about 25 minutes away to the north-east.
