Germans clearly love to watch sex from their own country so it was no surprise when long-running German TV show, ‘Tatort’, aired a hardcore episode on 8th October 2017, traffic to Pornhub dropped by 15%!
However, the show sparked a huge increase in searches for ‘bukkake’ after the screening. The same evening saw a spike in searches for the term by 95% with the following day seeing it peak at a 137% increase.
Another drop in online traffic to Pornhub was noted on the day after the ‘German Beer’ festival when visitor numbers fell by 10%.
Analysis of Germany’s neighbours shows that the search term ‘German’ is the most popular keyword in both Austria and Switzerland. ‘German Smoking’ was a trending search for Luxembourg.
The percentage of female visitors to Pornhub from Germany is much lower than the global average of 26% with just one in five users being women (20%).
The majority of these women (67%) are aged 18 to 34. Women were generally watching porn tagged with the keywords ‘Lesbian’, ‘German’, ‘Gangbang’ and ‘Deutsch’ with content mostly being in either the ‘Lesbian’, ‘Anal’ or ‘Female-Friendly’ categories.
Compared to German men, German women are more likely to be viewing more explicit content with searches for ‘Hardcore’, ‘Rough Sex’, ‘Bondage’ and ‘Gangbang’ all being more popular with the ladies than the gents.
