Well, if you call a kid Ben Dover, you only have yourself to blame when he grows up to become one of the most influential men in the porn industry!
Real name, Simon James Honey, the British pornographer Ben Dover is the most infamous name in the UK adult movie business. Producer, performer and director, he has starred in more than 130 porno films and created more than 100 top adult titles.
We wanted to know more about this British porn legend so in this profile we find out more about his legacy and check out some of his finest and most popular Ben Dover porn videos.
The Man Behind the Legend of Ben Dover
Born in Kent in May 1956, Simon Honey was expelled from Borden Grammar School in 1973 after gaining a reputation as Sittingbourne’s ‘bad boy’.
A few months after his untimely departure from the education system, Honey moved down to Newquay in Cornwall where he started working as a children’s entertainer. Already fond of a new identity, his stage name at the time was simply ‘Uncle Simon’.
Thankfully, this stint as a performer at kids’ parties was short lived and Honey quickly moved on to something more grown up.
Using another pseudonym (this time Lindsay Honey) he started working as a session drummer and eventually keyboardist, plying his trade for a while in the music business.
The band made three studio albums and reinvented themselves several times but were never destined for any success.
So much so that by the late 1970s, Simon was stoney broke and in dire need of some cash. It was in 1978 that he made his first foray into the adult industry.
Hitting the London clubs and using another stage name (Hot Rod due to his apparent likeness to Rod Stewart) he started working as a stripper.
An obvious showman and clearly comfortable showing off his tackle it was whist working the clubs that he responded to an ad and picked up an agent. Taking more adult jobs he was soon being pai £150 per shoot for working with a studio owned by Berth Milton Sr (of Private magazine).
Over the next few years, Honey worked for several adult film companies including Videx as well as working for Escort magazine as a glamour photographer.
Along with his partner, Linzi Drew, he also started his own business selling pornography via mail-order.
Though reasonably lucrative with customers paying up to £60 per vide, this latest venture would eventually land Honey in hot water. In 1990 both Drew and Honey were arrested and convicted of “publishing obscene material for gain”. Both of them severed some jail time for the offences but (fortunately for us) neither were put off from exploring how the adult industry could make them some money.
By 1993, Honey had been approached by Berth Milton Sr to direct the company’s first forays into adult videos. He made several films for Private but this time under yet another moniker, Steve Perry.
And this is where Simon Honey finds his calling.
Leading the Golden Age of Brit Porn
In the summer of 1994, he strikes out on his own, characteristically rebranding himself again but this time as Ben Dover.
The name was apparently influenced by John Stagliano’s Buttman.
Directing, producing and starring in all of his own movies, the Ben Dover series was an instant hit. The combination of hardcore anal action and Honey’s cheeky British charm were something the porn markets hadn’t seen before.
Featuring young debutantes, housewives and real British amateurs, the gonzo style of filming was perfect for showcasing the UK’s fresh new style of porn.

Even the USA was warming up to this uniquely English genre and, in 1997, Honey proudly took home the Breakthrough Award at the AVN Awards.
In 2004, Honey made another series of five movies entitled Ben Dover’s Kick Ass Anal Adventures which continued to keep this aging porn star in the public eye.
This decade saw a lot of porn studios and producers going under as the rise of tube sites and abundance of free online porn threatened to kill small independents.
Yet Honey has continually proved himself to be a bit of an entrepreneur and diversified his brand to include:

Honey has also been creative with events based on the Ben Dover brand and has hosted porn discos as well as SwingalongaBen swinging parties.
As Ben Dover, Simon Honey (or, should that be, Uncle Simon/Lindsay Honey/Hot Rod/Steve Perry?!) has become one of the most influential figures in the British porn industry.
Over a period of 25+ years, he has made over 130 adult film appearances and his name is now synonymous with UK adult films.
The Ben Dover brand is recognised internationally and Honey was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2007 and given a Lifetime Achievement accolade in 2006 by the UK Adult Film and Television Awards.
Now aged 65, it’s been a few years since Honey has made any new content but his back catalog of films continues to delight audiences.

English Class (1996)
One of the early Ben Dover movies, this one features six teen ‘nubile knob jockeys’ and Ben Dover captures the action in amateur style.
It’s not the highest quality porno film you’ll ever watch but has a great deal of authenticity to it plus the sex is straight up hot.
English Porno Groupies (1997)
Whilst the rest of the world might think the British are stiff and reserved, this whirlwind tour of the UK picking up cock hungry groupies demonstrates otherwise.

Ben Dover’s Kick Ass Anal Adventures (2002)
The start of the series which really helped launched Ben Dover in the United States, this outrageous collection of anal hardcore action runs to over 4.5 hours.
Working the camera and getting in on the scenes, Ben ploughs his way through some tight butts alongside Pascal White.

Like Father, Like Son (2015)
There are four volumes in this series which earned Honey some serious flack at the time it was released in 2015.
An incest-based genre of work, he and his on-screen son share the same girls in another dose of young/old porn.
There was quite a backlash as Honey has a son and there was fierce criticism from the anti-porn camps about the films being in ‘bad taste’.
Each volume features a different cast of beauties for the fictional father/son duo to tag-team but all are European beauties aching for some family fun.

The Old Fucker (2017)

Celebrating dirty old men the world over, Honey proves he’s still man enough for the job stuffing pussy and ass all over the place.
A total of two hours and 30 minutes long, its one of the last feature length movies that Ben Dover has starred in and cements him as an utter legend.
