Looking for some good times in Aarhus?
Denmark’s second city is a fantastic night out, and proof that not ALL of the interesting stuff happens in Copenhagen. This guide covers everything you need to know about escorts, street work laws, brothels and the myriad of sex services in Aarhus.
Needless to say, it’s no Istedgade. But there is a popular student nightlife strip, a handful of advertised kliniks and independents, one proper strip club, and a couple of swinger destinations for those looking to explore their kinks. Let’s take a closer look…
Adult Entertainment In Aarhus
The Local Adult Industry
Located on the Jutland peninsula, Aarhus is the second-largest city in Denmark and a major hub for trade, tourism, and education.
With 370,000 residents and over a million annual visitors, it offers a lively entertainment scene.
And that includes adult services.
Though not as famous for its red-light scene as Copenhagen, Aarhus has its share of brothels, escort agencies, and erotic massage parlours.
Still, while Aarhus is fairly liberal by Nordic standards… you could argue that it’s downright provincial by Copenhagen standards. It’s a university city, though, which can make for some pretty lively nights outs.
How does the local adult industry shape up?
Well, you’ve got:
- Hundreds of independent escorts; most booked off the same Danish boards that are popular nationwide
- A few shared-premises klinikker and discreet Viby / Aarhus C rooms
- One strip club that calls itself the “only full-nude room in Mid Jutland“
- G Club on Paradisgade and Joys out in Åbyhøj
- No real red light district
- And a bewildering absence of sex shops
This is a very good bar city, but it’s not exactly brimming with NSFW attractions.
Sex and Prostitution In Aarhus
Denmark decriminalised the sale of sex in 1999, and buying it is legal too. The issues come from anything resembling a business run off the back of prostitution – or somebody else’s sex work.
Under Straffeloven § 233:
- Stk. 1 – running a business in which another person has sex with a customer for payment is rufferi. Punishable by up to four years.
- Stk. 2 – exploiting someone else’s paid sex, or repeatedly acting as a middleman for profit. Fine or up to three years.
- Stk. 3 – renting a hotel room for someone else’s commercial sex. Fine or up to one year.
All this is to say that the transaction of money for sex is mostly fine between two consenting adults – but things get complicated real fast if a business tries to profit from it.
A survey by VIVE in 2021 suggested that about 4,500 people had sold sex in Denmark at least once in 2020, most of it via online directories and classifieds. The exact numbers for Aarhus were not clear – and in any case, they’d be a rough estimate.
More recently, Århus Stiftstidende ran a piece suggesting that street work had left the Latin Quarter and that the local SWE contingent was as high as 800.
Though rare, Østjyllands Politi still do address checks.
In June 2025 they hit premises in Aarhus and Randers where women were believed to be selling sex. Most stops produced nothing further, but one Thai woman in Randers was charged with illegal stay. This is a familiar pattern for the industry – much of it continues to operate in the grey area of the law.
Escort Industry
Most escorts in Aarhus operate independently but use the services of an internet database or classified site to advertise their services. Whilst there are quite a few Europe-wide web pages that offer the services of Danish escorts, there are a few Denmark specific escort portals too.
Escorts here are public enough. They are easy to find, but you generally won’t find the same proliferation of agencies and third parties (due to the local laws).
Where they advertise
Compared to smaller Danish cities, Aarhus still offers more choices due to its size and population, but the industry remains low-key.
Some of the popular escort communities we found include:
- Escort-Side.dk / Aarhus – a staple live board. Ads we checked included incall in Aarhus C and Viby, outcall to hotels, and a smattering of touring profiles. Hour rates on the page ran from bargain 1,000 DKK sessions up to 2,000-2,900 DKK outcall.
- Annoncelight.dk – free classifieds with a mixed bag in terms of quality Aarhus courtesans can offer short sessions from 500-800 DKK (15-30 min) and hours around 1,300-1,500 DKK on the cheaper touring listings. We found around 120 live ads when we last checked the site (Sept 2026)
- Escortguide.dk – a free-for-all of escort ads covering the whole of Denmark. It doesn’t have the best filtering for Aarhus-only, but there’s a search option available.
Other international escort directories have coverage in the Aarhus area, albeit limited – the popular EuroGirlsEscort directory currently has 11 listings, while Ladys.one has over 90.
You’ll notice that touring Eastern and Southern European SWs dominate the boards. Expect to see a lot of ads pushing “New in Aarhus / Viby” from girls who probably won’t even be here next week.
Brothels In Aarhus
There are no legal brothels in Aarhus.
Some independent sex workers operate from shared apartments or private houses. These setups function similarly to a brothel, with multiple hookers working from the same location (often hours apart). Punters need to call or message in advance to arrange a visit, and walk-ins are rare.
The workaround is the same klinik model that you’ll see in Copenhagen: self-employed women sharing an address, a rota, a room fee rather than a percentage of the sex.
Whether a given address would survive a police raid is up for debate. But from what we’ve seen, the police work, when it happens, is usually framed as trafficking or immigration related.
Aarhus Red Light Districts
There is no official tolerance zone. Neither is there an unofficial RLD that still shows of sign (like Vesterbro in the capital).
If we go back a generation, most of the visible street trade sat in the Latin Quarter – the small streets around Paradisgade, Nørregade and the cathedral end of town. But the pockets of hookers on the corners are now long gone. Most of the work has moved into private apartments and “summer houses” (as some call them).
Paradisgade is still the adult address in the centre. But that is only because G Club / Sex-Bio and the old Tys-Tys corner lived there… NOT because you’re going to bump shoulders with active sex workers.
Walk it at 11pm and you’re more likely to bump into students heading to Café Paradis – a different challenge altogether!
As always, and in any case, we advise against hunting for street work.
Not because buying is illegal – it’s not – but because the street product barely exists, and whoever is left offering it is most likely doing so in some pretty desperate circumstances.
The Price of Sex In Aarhus
Aarhus is cheaper than Copenhagen at the lower end of the market, but top rate escorts will still charge a comparable price – especially because the supply is much smaller. And they are still paying Danish rent, after all!
We did some research from from live Aarhus ads on Escort-Side and Annoncelight:
- Short session, 15-30 min, touring / budget listings: 500-800 DKK
- Independent / klinik-style 60 min: 1,000-2,000 DKK is about the dstandard
- Outcall hour: 2,000 DKK showed up as a common posted rate. Some of the touring escorts will charge more.
- Premium / short-stay visitors: we’d say anything north of 2,500-3,000 DKK is the top of a thin market.
- Erotic massage & happy endings: varies a lot; from about 700 DKK for 30 min with extras on classifieds.
- Street short time: from the limited reports we’ve seen of hookers working the streets, most charge around 300 DKK for sex, considerably less than escorts.
Against the rest of Europe, you have to understand that this is still Scandinavian money. Yes, against Copenhagen, you can often save a few hundred kroner on a standard hour, but this discount is perhaps not as wide as a tourist might expect if he was hoping that some distance from the capital would lower prices.
Erotic Massage in Aarhus
Most erotic massage can be arranged with a specialist escort who provides these services. However, there are a couple of Tantra salons where you can get an erotic massage in a professional set-up.
Aarhus does not have a visible Thai-shopfront strip the way some Copenhagen streets do. The extras market is mostly uncovered via some research on the classifieds: “diskret sted, ingen massage skilt,” Viby, close to the motorway, start from 700. We found an Annoncelight ad that was offering 30 min with a handjob at 700 DKK and tantra / B2B at 1,000 DKK, no full service.
Many of the punters in this scene are active over on EroGuide.dk – a useful resource with reviews of the nation’s erotic massage shops (including Aarhus). Best to start there.
Sex Clubs in Aarhus
The Aarhus swinging scene is alive and well. Aarhus actually punches above its escort scene here, with two choices that are both very popular.
G Club / Sex-Bio

The G Club is located centrally in the city inside a sex shop and cinema. As well as glory holes, dark room and private cabins there is also a TV room showing porn.
Furnished over two floors, the G Club is mainly a gay cruise venue but is open for couples and single women on Sundays. It’s slowly opened up to women and couples over the years.
On entrance, you’ve got a self-service gate, with card or MobilePay at the door. Cash for the door can be sorted in the (former) shop around the corner when that counter is staffed.
Official hours on gclub.dk: Mon-Wed and Sunday 09:00-23:00. Thu-Sat 09:00-05:00.
Official door is 200 DKK per person, including towel, lock, lube and condoms.
Oh, and remember: Paradisgade 9 next door is the art-house cinema Øst for Paradis. Do not mix the doors up on a first date!!
Joys
Elkjærvej 30, 8230 Åbyhøj
Located about 6km south west of Aarhus is the swing club, Joys. Open to single men and women as well as couples, Joys is an inclusive 450 sq. m play house for anyone looking for some extra-curricular fun.
The club has plenty of facilities to entertain their guests including a darkroom, sauna, S&M room and voyeur’s room complete with swings and gynaecological benches. Each of the private rooms shows pornographic material on loop and there is a bar in the main lounge area. A smoking cabinet is also provided.
A glance at the calendar in mid-September 2026 shows a fairly varied events schedule: naked day, dark night, gay day. There’s plenty on offer!
Strip Clubs in Aarhus
When we first wrote this guide (over 8 years ago!), there was only one strip club in town: Crystal.
Well, there’s still only one club in town – but it’s now Lounge 8000.
Lounge 8000
Opened in December of 2018, this is gleefully described as “the only strip club in Mid Jutland“, and the only room in Denmark that can legally run full-nude stage shows.
We’re not sure if that’s totally accurate, but if you live in Aarhus… you don’t have any other choice. This is the only nude bar in town!
What can you expect inside?
- Usually 6-8 dancers on a shift
- Stage shows every 15 minutes
- Two lap-dance rooms
- Touching only if you buy a lap dance, and only within her limits
- No sex on the premises (you dirty old dog, you)
- No photos
- Smart casual
- Entry 200 DKK
- House “funny money” for tipping (whatever that is!)
We believe this club is run by the same owner who previously ran La Belle, which Aarhus locals may remember – it closed back in 2017.
Sex Shops in Aarhus
Aarhus falls flat here.
We could only find one active adult retail store in the region – and that is Peech Aarhus over at Badstuegade 16, 8000 Aarhus Centrum.
Peech is your classic modern adult retailer – the place couples and women will feel comfortable browsing.
Elsewhere, it’s slim pickings.
Tys-Tys (Alt er Tys-Tys) used to be Denmark’s oldest sex shop, over on Paradisgade since the late 1960s in one form or another. In November 2024 they shut the physical store. MigogAarhus quoted them saying that after 67 years in the Latin Quarter, the shop was done – but the webshop would continue.
We tried accessing their site but it says (translated): “Sorry for the mess! We’re working on something amazing”
It doesn’t look like a relaunch is coming anytime soon.
Sinful is the big Danish online retailer. They have a warehouse pickup at Søren Nymarks Vej 1C, 8270 Højbjerg. As far as we’re aware, this is click-and-collect only – not an actual shop. Please comment if you’ve seen otherwise.
Hooking Up In Aarhus
So if you’re looking to get laid in Aarhus – without burning the cash – what are your best options?
Well, you could always try the old fashioned way…
Top Pickup Destinations
Skolegade / Frederiksgade / Åboulevarden. Most locals would agree that this is the night-game destination of choice. Østjyllands Politi renewed the midtown nattelivszone through October 2027, covering those streets plus Klostergade. The party should still be going for a while, yet.
- Skolegade – the looooud street. Live music at Fatter Eskil (Skolegade 25). It’s packed full of students. If you have no luck pulling, you can sooth your eyeballs at Lounge 8000, yes, the city’s strip club is on this street.
- Frederiksgade – Lucy’s at no. 25 and the happy-hour strip.
- Åboulevarden – down by the river. You’ve got cafes one side, clubs the other in summer.
Any areas worth a visit?
Latin Quarter. Mejlgade and the cobbles: Ris Ras Filliongongong, Mig & Ølsnedkeren, Café Paradis (Den Sidste) at Paradisgade 9. Not a bad choice if you actually want to have a chat, but definitely not as good for dance-floor conversion.
Frederiksbjerg / Jægergårdsgade. South of the station. Mikkeller, St. Pauls Apothek. Local, food-and-drink spot, a bit of a calmer attraction.
Hookup Resources
Finally, if you really want to optimise your chances of a hookup in Aarhus, your best bet is to do what works everywhere else: swipe the hell out of the locals on Tinder – and then hope for the best.
Apps
- Tinder / Bumble / Hinge – English generally works fine on these, the staple dating apps. Aarhus has a noticeably younger dating market than other Danish cities… although that might depend on whether you’re swiping in direct vicinity of the student bars.
- Grindr – popular with the Aarhus guys, as you’d expect.
- Feeld and SDC – both good choices for swingers and kinks.
Lifestyle / sex-classifieds
- Annoncelight.dk – you can generally expect to be whipping out your credit card (or a wad of cash) for this particular ‘hookup’ – but desperate times, right?
- Escort-Side.dk – and likewise. Pay to play!
- Joys.dk / G Club – a decent resource that you can use to uncover local events where sex is definitely on the menu – but it’s heavily male-orientated.
