Prostitution in Saint Petersburg
Prostitution is illegal in Russia though the penalty for breaking the law is simply a small fine of around 2000 RUB (€28). As a result of these inconsequential sums, prostitution is widespread and often quite blatant.
Instead of petty prostitution, the authorities focus their efforts on more serious crime such as trafficking and drugs.
It is estimated that that are anywhere between 700,000 and 3 million sex workers in the country. Major cities like Saint Petersburg have plenty of prostitutes who make a living in the strip clubs, erotic massage parlours, brothels and on the street. Whilst the majority of women are Russian, you will also spot prostitutes from Asia, the Middle East and other Eastern European counties like Belarus, Ukraine and Estonia.
Street prostitutes can charge as little as 1000 RUB (€14) with escorts averaging at around 10,000 RUB (€142).

You can find a whole range of escorts providing out-call services across Saint Petersburg from elite call girls to budget hookers. Some specialise in fetish or massage services whilst others offer a traditional GFE.
There are dozens of good directories for independent courtesans in Saint Petersburg covering a wide range of prices from under €50 to over €500 per hour. Some of the women on these sites will charge additional expenses which may be as low as €10 for the cost of travel whilst some will be much more. Brothels are illegal in Russia and there have been a few scalps from the authorities in recent years as police clamp down on these venues. Though you can find illegal brothels in the city by asking almost any cab driver, this is not recommended both for the legal risks, as well as the many scams aimed at tourists.

There are dozens of massage parlours in Saint Petersburg where you can get an erotic body rub with happy ending. Most venues will provide full service and extras but the cost of this is negotiated with your masseuse.
As a rough outline of prices, one parlour advertises that a basic erotic body rub with happy ending will cost you 3000 RUB (€42.75) for a half hour session however you can just pop in for a ten minute hand job for 2000 RUB (€28.50) and even a five minute session of French kissing for 2000 RUB (€28.50).

Strip Clubs
Saint Petersburg has a great selection of strip clubs with each having their own reputation for their services. At most clubs, you can arrange a private performance in one of their suites; most include beds and wash facilities with the expectation that you pay for what you get up to with the dancer directly. However, a fee will be charged for the room and the ‘dance’.
Most of the clubs also serve hookah which is quite popular in Russia.
Zависть Strip Bar (Zavist)
29 Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street, Saint Petersburg
Zavist has a chain of bars in St Petersburg with their strip club located close to the Stroganov Palace at Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street.

All six clubs are popular locations for locals and visitors to the city but it is the strip bar which apparently offers the best shows.
Entrance to the club is free and you can enjoy non-stop strip entertainment (which includes some saucy girl on girl soaping), adult games and even erotic massage in the VIP lounge. A popular activity is taking a full body shot from one of the exotic dancers and drinking it straight from her body.
It’s a stylish club with a modern interior and you can get some private time with your choice of dancer in one of the luxurious boudoirs. You can even enjoy a jacuzzi foam party.

Maximus Club

Decorated with rich frescoes, marble tables, antiques and sheer red drapes, there is a nod to the traditional gentleman’s club here but the atmosphere is one of a modern club.

The Saint Petersburg branch of this popular European brand of strip clubs offers a cornucopia of delights. Situated close to the Yusupov Gardens, Eden is popular for stag weekends and birthdays.

Just down the road from the Golden Dolls is the Chicago X Men’s Club. With a traditional midnight blue, gold and red interior, the club hits the right notes for its sultry atmosphere.
They have a good reputation for their athletic dancers who can perform some amazing pole tricks whilst remaining sexily feminine.
Follow the black and white chequered corridors to experience an unforgettable evening in their VIP suites. Services include private jacuzzi sessions, karaoke and a ‘crazy menu’.
The club serves food and hookah as well as offering a wide range of drinks from the bar.

Rhino Bar

Situated on the main road running to the Dokhodnyy Doma. V.zmeyeva, the Rhino Bar is well-positioned in the centre of the city.
The interior of the rooms is varied but is designed around majestic velvet seating and decadent chandeliers. There are several private rooms, each styled differently but all offering top quality comfort and great facilities. Some have beds, others have chaises and some feature jacuzzi baths.
One of the best features of this club is that it isn’t dingy or vast, instead you have a warren of smaller rooms, bars and lounges which makes the place feel more intimate.
The Rhino Bar is open as follows:
- Sunday to Thursday: 9.00pm to 6.00am
- Friday and Saturday: 9.00pm to 7.00am
Zажигалка (Lighter)

Lighter is a popular strip club in Saint Petersburg where the girls are hot and the hookah is good.
With a huge raised stage and a love of the smoke machine, the venue has the appeal of an arena event. This is quite a sexy atmosphere but can lack the intimacy of smaller clubs.
Whilst there are private rooms available, there is a strict policy on what goes on so don’t have high expectations of full service at this venue.
Please note that women can only enter the club if they are accompanied by a man.

Vertep Bar
Lanskoe highway 15, Saint Petersburg
Home of the original Hali Gali strip club where Russian celebrity Roman Trakhtenberg made appearances, the Vertep Bar is a mixed male and female strip venue.
It’s a lively bar that is reminiscent of a 1990s American Roadhouse with bartenders whipping up cocktails Tom Cruise style. Don’t be alarmed if one of them brings out a fire-eating display mid service.
This is not a traditional Gentleman’s club but a slightly alternative bar with the added bonus of topless dancers on the bar and a pole dancing stage.
The Vertep gets quite busy with locals and is a popular venue for parties.
A private dance backstage cost 3000 RUB (€42.75) and most of the girls will accompany you for an evening at a rate of 5000 RUB (€71.25) per hour.

Street Prostitutes and Red-Light Districts
There is no red-light district in Saint Petersburg, certainly not like those you will find in Amsterdam or across other major European cities. All of the adult entertainment venues detailed above are widely spread across the city.
Street prostitution is not common in Saint Petersburg, certainly not during the winter when the temperature plummets to well below freezing. Hookers tend to head to hotel bars and clubs to pick up or use the internet to advertise as an escort.
A word of warning; Russian women tend to dress very provocatively for a night out and the clubs and hotel bars can often have genuine singles that look like prostitutes. You would be well advised to make sure you are talking to a working girl before making a very embarrassing mistake – and vice versa if you are trying to hook up with the locals!
However, there are a couple of spots in the city where you can find street hookers but they can be dangerous places to go, particularly late at night.
