Want to watch a live sex show in the Netherlands?
Whilst Amsterdam is well known for its live sex and peep shows, there is also a culture of the sex cinema around the Netherlands. As Amsterdam was once full of peep shows, the Sex Palace is the last traditional such venue but remains a popular tourist attraction. A central rolling show (on a circular, rotating stage) changes every 10-15 minutes with a huge variety of acts and performers. Private cabins are available around the perimeter where €2 buys you 2 minutes of viewing time. The venue retains its retro appeal but enjoys modern facilities such as air-conditioning and fully refurbished (comfortable) seats.
Booths are small and designed for personal enjoyment but can accommodate a couple at a squeeze. They’ve thought of everything with tissue paper being provided rather handily in a neat little dispenser for easy clean up operations!
It’s best to take coins rather than notes and pay for your desired time before the window opens on the show. The stage is just a few feet away from the booths and, because the stage rotates, you get a great view at all times.
Do be aware that whilst you can take a good look at the action going on in front of you, you can also see into the other open cabins so your experience isn’t one-way.
Open from 7am to 1am most days, the Sex Palace Peep Show is a must-do experience for any visitor to Amsterdam if only to pay homage to the way porn used to be available before the advent of the internet.
Banana Bar

Named for the naughty fruit tricks for which it has become popular, the Banana Bar incorporates a strip club and bar with live entertainment. Though no sex is performed, the venue’s performers are well worth a visit. Described as eccentric, the first floor bar is full of scantily clad waitresses with accommodating smiles and first-class service skills. Don’t fancy spending the entire evening in the bar? The downstairs club offers lap dances as well.
Open seven days a week from 8pm the action goes on until 2am (Sunday to Thursday) and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Casa Rosso

The pink elephant has become as synonymous with Amsterdam’s red light district just as much as the city’s red lights, canals and reefer cafes. Perhaps the best known of all the city’s sex show venues, the Casa Rosso is situated in the centre of the famous De Wallen red-light district.
The venue appeals to the market; tourists looking for sexy and erotic entertainment rather than a live version of DVDs. That being said, you will definitely be entertained by the combination of dancers, light BDSM and unusual tricks.
Open seven days a week from 7pm to 2am (3am on Fridays and Saturdays) you can get a ticket for €35 or you can spend a bit more to get free drinks with your entrance fee.
Moulin Rouge

Open until 2am every day of the week the Moulin Rouge is one of Amsterdam’s most iconic adult venues (not to be confused with the historic Parisian cabaret club). The canal side building is cosy but lively and ticks every box when it comes to experiencing a Dutch sex club.
